DSM STAFF MAJOR PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Project: WS14 – Desal Plant & Dry well

Client: JHGOJV
Project value: $7mil

o strengthen Kangaroo Island’s long-term water security, SA Water initiated the construction of the Penneshaw Desalination Water Treatment Plant No.2 (PDP2). Designed to operate independently of the existing Penneshaw Desalination Plant No.1 (PDP1), PDP2 enhances asset resilience and ensures a reliable water supply for the region. The plant is planned to deliver up to 6 megalitres of potable water per day, with capacity phased in increments of 2, 4, and 6 megalitres over time. Although the production will be scaled, the marine infrastructure has been built to support the full 6-megalitre capacity from the outset. Since 2021, DSM has played a key role in delivering critical project components to support this important initiative.

Project: Mt Bold Reservoir

Client: JHGOJV
Project value: $1mil

Mount Bold Reservoir, South Australia’s largest, is situated about 45 minutes south of Adelaide. Encompassing over 5,500 hectares of land, the area features native vegetation of significant conservation value and includes three Trees for Life sites. As one of 16 reservoirs in the state, it plays a vital role in supplying water to over 1.7 million South Australians.

DSM was engaged to address a critical issue within the reservoir’s Stilling Chamber, which had accumulated rocks, silt, and sediment over time. To support SA Water’s geological mapping efforts, the chamber needed to be de-watered and cleared to expose the natural bedrock. Working in collaboration with JHGOJV and SMEC, DSM contributed to enabling works, ensuring the chamber was prepared for these essential mapping activities.

Project: Mt Pleasant WWTP upgrade

Client: The Barossa Council
Project value: $1.4mil

This project commenced in November 2004, and was to design manufacture and install a transportation system for transporting front & rear seats for the new 380 model Magna from the loading dock area to the production line. This was achieved using several vertical lifters and pushers, combined with over 100 metres of conveying equipment. Large Walkways each weighing over 300 kg, had to be designed and suspended from roof trusses, within the facility to support the conveyor system and provide access for maintenance personnel. Artec Engineering undertook all electrical work including PLC programming.
